Cappelletti Elisir Novasalus
Vino Amaro
I found Elisir Novasalus through my search of ‘the bitterest liqueur/amari in the world’, and it did not disappoint. It’s so bitter it cleanses anything off of your palate, and leaving behind a long, slightly sweet and bark-y aromatic finish.
Novasalus is made from dry Marsala, adding gentian, burdock and tons of other herbs. It’s intense but not as viscous as Cynar. Novasalus’ bitterness is so powerful, if you want to use it in cocktails, start with adding only drops or a teaspoon of it.
Amargo Vallet
I might make a tiny Amaro ‘Zine one day, maybe. For now this is what I’ve come up with.
Underberg
My absolute favorite!! I don’t know why, it’s full of anise which I usually don’t love, but it just works in Underberg!Underberg is a traditional German digestif that’s made from 43+ herbs. The recipe is a secret that’s still guarded by the 5th generation family members. My dream is to collect 480 caps and get this extremely cool (and nerdy) Underberg Belt.
